Established
as M.J. Schiff & Associates in 1959 by our founding
engineer, Mr. Melvin J. Schiff, our firm is one of the
oldest independently owned and operated corrosion
engineering firms in the United States. Today, M.J. Schiff &
Associates, Inc. operates as a succeeding entity to the
previous sole proprietorship and recently became HDR|Schiff as we move forward and expand the many
services we offer to the corrosion industry. Our
professionals possess a wide range of experience in the
assessment, specification, design, and testing of corrosion
control facilities.
HDR|Schiff focuses on corrosion engineering, corrosivity and coating-related services to assist
architects/engineers and owners in designing, constructing,
and operating structures with low maintenance costs and long
trouble-free lives.
Well recognized in the industry, HDR|Schiff is a
company that is focused on customer-driven performance.
Since Mel's early days the company, and its employees, have
been actively involved with NACE (National Association of
Corrosion Engineers) and continue that legacy today with
many employees holding positions on local Area and Section
boards. We're very proud of the fact that three HDR|Schiff
engineers have been recognized by the Western Area of NACE
International and awarded the following for their many
contributions to the field of corrosion. |

The firm was also awarded
NACE Western Region Outstanding Company in 1995 as M.J.
Schiff & Associates.
HDR|Schiff obtained a Class A - General Engineering
Contractor License through the state of California
Contractor's State License Board in April 2004. This
broadens our scope of corrosion engineering consulting
services and allows us to install corrosion control
equipment as a contractor in special circumstances.
HDR|Schiff is an active member of ISNetworld and OP/QUAL
per US Department of transportation (US DOT.) Our Company's
listing with ISNetworld allows Owner Clients the convenience
of viewing our Health and Safety statistics, insurance,
Master Service Agreements and other compliance information.
ISN's Review and Verification Services (RAVs) improves the
reliability and accuracy of the data submitted.
